The Last Word
by John Michael Ray

Well, the first time that I saw you
I wasn’t that impressed
But then I started thinking
As I watched you get undressed
You’ve got the body of a goddess
The demeanor of a slut
And you could be so perfect
If you kept your damn mouth shut

You are everything
I’ve always wanted in a lover
But everything you say
Goes in one ear and out the other
It’s good for you, it’s good for us
That you’re so fuckin’ hot
Cause most of what you say to me
I already forgot

This ain’t about you wanting the last word
It’s all about you wanting to be heard

Why can’t you just be somebody
Why can’t you just chill
Why the hell can’t you be cured
By some magical pill
We could have amazing times
Our life could be a riot
You could be my future
If only you’d be quiet

I got a feeling, you and me
Are never gonna fly
Cause the more I have to listen to you
Makes me wanna cry
It’s immoral, it’s a shame
That this is headed south
All because you’ve never learned
To shut your fuckin’ mouth

This ain’t about you wanting the last word
It’s all about you wanting to be heard
