Expect The Unexpected
by John Michael Ray

What’s this my friend, here we go again
Nothing surprises me anymore
Said you were gone, time to move on
But you’re back again, I think to settle a score

Come if you must, but it’s all about trust
And there’s not much of that to go around
Trying once and again has me wearing so thin
Running and running this thing into the ground

By now I’ve learned
To expect the unexpected
Now it’s your turn
To expect the unexpected

Been here before, now we’re headed for more
Oh, I can’t believe my luck of the draw
Did you really think that you and me
Could have one more last time, a final hurrah

We’ll stay for a while, eat ‘em and smile
Then draw back, lick our wounds from the pain
The names never change but the game stays the same
When the final credits roll, nothing’s been gained

By now I’ve learned
To expect the unexpected
Now it’s your turn
To expect the unexpected

Another good-bye, oh, now don’t make me cry
It’s something I’ve learned to do so well
The sight of your ass, as you’re walking away
Is making me as happy as hell

By now I’ve learned
To expect the unexpected
Now it’s your turn
To expect the unexpected
