I can see all I need to see
Cause your eyes don't lie
Say what you need to say to me
But your eyes don't lie

"The human voice is the most beautiful instrument of all,
but it is the most difficult to play."
- Richard Strauss (1864 - 1949)

New Lyrics, New Music
Saturday, June 13, 2009

'Fine Line' is probably my most ambitious project yet. It's taken over a month to write and put all together. I'm about halfway recording it as well. It clocks in at just over 9 minutes. I really hope you like it. - JMR

SOCAN
Monday, November 17, 2008

I was recently accepted by SOCAN, The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada. Their purpose is to act:

"As a collective for the performing rights of our members - the creators and publishers of music - we make sure they get paid for the public performance and communication to the public of their music. We do that by collecting licence fees, as set by the Copyright Board of Canada, from anyone playing or broadcasting live or recorded music."

All of the original music and lyrics I write, record, demo, or play, have been placed on file with them. SOCAN # 6463952

Decisions, Passion, Integrity and Legacy
Saturday, November 15, 2008

This has definitely been a controversial article. There has been a bit of backlash from it. There has also been a lot of good come out of this piece of writing though. I didn't mean to offend anyone with this. I've learned the past year and a half to just tell it like it is. 99% of you took something from it.

I've written an article. Very self-indulgent too. With the help of some very dear friends, and some heavy duty drugs, I've been able to keep my head above water. This is a short story about what should be really important to people. If only one person gets something out of this, then that is amazing. Hopefully more will though. Afterthought
Monday, September 29, 2008

There are some of you who, after reading some of my recent lyrics, or hearing some of my recent recordings, think that I am still writing about Dawn. Nothing could be further from the truth. I haven't written anything inspired by her since January or February. There have been new inspirations in my life since then.

Life Ain't Always Beautiful
Saturday, May 3, 2008

I don't usually post someone else's lyrics. But lately I've been listening to a singer, who I think writes some of the most amazing stuff. Gary Allan is a wizard with words. There is one song in particular that I really like, and really feel. Hope you like it as well.

Life Ain't Always Beautiful - By Gary Allan

Life aint always beautiful
Sometimes it's just plain hard
Life can knock you down, it can break your heart

Life aint always beautiful
You think you're on your way
And it's just a dead end road at the end of the day

But the struggles make you stronger
And the changes make you wise
And happiness has its own way of takin it's sweet time

No, life aint always beautiful
Tears will fall sometimes
Life aint always beautiful
But it's a beautiful ride

Life aint always beautiful
Some days I miss your smile
I get tired of walkin all these lonely miles

And I wish for just one minute
I could see your pretty face
Guess I can dream, but life don't work that way

But the struggles make me stronger
And the changes make me wise
And happiness has its own way of takin it's sweet time

No, life aint always beautiful
But I know i'll be fine
Hey, life aint always beautiful
But it's a beautiful ride
What a beautiful ride

Song Archive Update
Saturday, March 22, 2008

4 more have been added to the song archive. That brings the total to 21. It sure is funny looking over some of the really old songs. As I have time, I will dig the hand written notes out of the old binders and post them there. Gives me a chance to update/rewrite them somewhat.

Music For Relief/Linkin Park Concert
Saturday, February 23, 2008

On Saturday night I was part of the Music For Relief team at the Linkin Park concert, at the John Labatts Centre in London, Ontario. A lot of money was raised for their efforts, by the team. Thanks goes out to all involved. The concert was amazing too. One of the best I've ever seen. Linkin Park was flawless. Below is a picture of Chester Bennington looking like he wants to hit me with his microphone.

The Long Road Back
Sunday, October 28, 2007

I guess you could call this a 'state of the union' address of sorts. It has been a long 6 months in my life, and I'm doing fine. I've written an article of thoughts. Maybe not some of the words your used to me writing, but it's something I thought of Saturday morning at work.

Panic Attack
Wednesday, August 28, 2007

Recently, I had the opportunity to do something I haven’t done for quite a long time, sing with a band. I’d like to thank Greg, Ark and Andrew, of Panic Attack, for letting me sit in with them. We did some Collective Soul, Audioslave, STP and Creed. I’ve got a bit of work ahead of me, getting my voice back in shape and finding my range again, but I look forward to that challenge.

If you get a chance, check the guys out. You can find information about their band at www.panic-attack.ca, They play some good hard rock n’ roll.

Thank You
Tuesday, July 3, 2007

I wouldn't be where I am now, without the love and help and aid of the really good friends and family in my life. You have no idea how much your support has meant to me.

To my daughter Michaela, my sister Katie, my niece Sammy, my cousins Tom and Debbie, my aunts Daisy and Jeannie, my uncle Jim, my friends Cid, Sandra, Lisa, Loriann, Kevin, and Traci, thank you so much, for everything. I feel like the luckiest man alive to have all of you in my life.

Letter From an Old Friend
Monday, May 7,2007

Recently, while trolling through Facebook, I came across a girl who I had been in a grade 10 class with in high school. While I apologetically only have a vague memory of this person from back then, it seems she had taken away with her, a very strong memory of this encounter. With her permission, I'd like to share with you, this letter I received from her. Thank you Lori, you have no idea the effect this letter had at this time in my life.
